DESCRIPTION: Switzerland, for French, Royal Exchange, London, minute repeating pocket watch with duplex escapement, 7 jewels, key wind and set gilt bar movement with cut bimetallic balance in an 18 karat, yellow gold, reeded edge, engine turned hunting case with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1839, and Roman numeral, single sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel hands, serial #7270, 48mm, 98g TW.
CONDITION: CASE: A few dings; Small dent, back; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Engine turning nearly worn smooth; Cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, front, 100 deg; Bow replaced; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light, 1:30- 2:30, 6:00. HANDS: Mismatched. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Pin pricks; Hour hammer with specks of oxide; Regulator with a few specks of oxide; Screw heads with minor scratches and loss to blue; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), needs service. COMPLICATION FUNCTION: Repeating sluggish, plunger will not depress fully when counting high minutes, some poor quality repairs to repeat work.
